Sir, – In recent weeks I have been getting numerous phone calls to my landline that display the message “withheld” on my phone. I fail to understand the logic in people and commercial companies hiding their number when making what amount to nuisance calls. Is this a new trend? Certainly in my case it guarantees that I will not answer the call. Instead I transfer it to the answering machine; in all cases, the caller just hangs up without leaving a message. – Yours, etc,
