Sir, – Whilst it is indeed great news that the oil field off the Cork coast contains much more than originally thought, could I ask the powers that be, be it the Minister for the Environment, or someone from Providence Oil, how much of this new find will actually benefit Ireland?
Will the oil be refined here and sold into the Irish market, or will it be transferred elswhere and be of no benefit to our economy? It seems that some of the deals done by previous administrations will see no benefit accrue to Ireland for “finds” off our coast. – Yours, etc,
