Madam, - I read with interest your Editorial "The arts in 2004" (December 29th) and refer also to the many letters from myself and other readers on the subject of re-siting the Abbey Theatre.
Approximately 4,000 Irish people took the trouble to voice their opinion on the future of our National Theatre and its possible move to O'Connell Street. A sample of these signatures was sent to the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern and the Minister for the Arts, Mr O'Donoghue .
Please, gentlemen, where is your national pride? This year's cultural highlight is the centenary of our National Theatre. - Yours etc.,
URSULA HOUGH-GORMLEY, Ormond Road, Dublin 6.
