Madam, – As Irish readers of Wanted in Romehave brought to our attention the correspondence in your newspaper about Dubarry's job advertisement in our magazine (May 22nd and May 26th), we would like to add that although we regret any confusion it may have caused Dubarry, we are nevertheless very proud of our PC record.

Our readers come from enormously differing backgrounds. We know from experience that if we are not politically correct we offend any number of our loyal readers. In addition, Italian laws do not allow advertising for jobs vacant ads on the grounds of age, gender, nationality or religion.

While we were not able to publish an advertisement for the very specific candidate Dubarry wanted, we would be very happy to celebrate the arrival of the company’s marvellous products into the Italian market by giving it a free display space within our magazine, provided it can send us an advertisement that does not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, nationality or religion. – Yours, etc,

MARGOT MASON,

Marketing and Advertising Director,
