Sir, – Conor Purcell's article on the negative health and environmental impacts of eating meat reinforced the wisdom of my decision 25 years ago to become a vegetarian ("The planet's dangerous appetite for meat", Science, January 22nd).
Unfortunately, however, I do not believe many of our politicians are likely to be questioned on this very important issue during their doorstep visits for the upcoming election. – Yours, etc,
