Sir, – Anyone with the slightest compassion must surely be disgusted by the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy of prosecuting all cases of illegal entry to the US ("UN condemns Trump policy on child separation as abuse", World News, June 18th).
It rips children away from their parents; in some cases there is a risk they may never be reunited.
The fake religiosity of Jeff Sessions, the US attorney general, is particularly galling. He references biblical text in defence of his disgraceful actions. He said, “I would cite you to the apostle Paul, and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes”.
Appropriately, the bible passage that Mr Sessions self-servingly quotes was also used in the mid-19th century to justify slavery. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Is Donald Trump in his treatment of migrant children not being influenced by how his new “best friend” in North Korea would handle them? – Yours, etc,
