Sir, – It is more blessed to give than to receive. One of the small pleasures of life is to be able to personally give a reasonable tip to the waitress, tradesman, or delivery person who has given good, efficient and friendly service. It need not be patronising or condescending, but is a practical way of saying thank you. Now you report that even that little bit of human connection is to be technologically obliterated ("Camile Thai strikes up partnership to enable contact-free tipping", Business, March 22nd).
Soon, apparently, I will have to have my phone tagged, a QR code scanned, and my bank account eventually debited, before my friendly delivery man gets his couple of euro.
