Thumbs down

Sir, – An unfortunate consequence of the Donnelly-Holohan “thumbs-up” emoji debacle is that now, regrettably, one has to resort to the marginally less dignified “high-five” or “peace sign” emojis when conversing with colleagues online, for fear of giving rise to similarly dismissive insinuations.

Will the Minister please undertake to refrain from using emojis in future correspondence and spare us all the headache? – Yours, etc.
