Sir, - I was interested to read (June 11th ), that Rev David Cooper of the Methodist Church quoted what were described as Pope John Paul's words in Harlem: "We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song." The Pope did indeed quote these words but they were first used, not by John Paul II but by St Augustine, rather a long time before! - Yours, etc.,
