The Phoenix Park

Sir, – I cautiously welcome the reduction in the speed limit in the Phoenix Park, and the aspiration to make the space more user friendly ("Phoenix Park speed limit to be cut to 30km/h from end of the month", News, February 7th). Public toilets should be first on the agenda, litter bins second, and then the cycle lanes and the lower speed limit. The toilets are non-existent, the litter bins are disappearing (or are being replaced by recycle-only bins) and the current cyclists treat it like a section of the Tour de France. Make it accessible but make it pleasant as well! – Yours, etc,

PAT QUINN,

Dublin 8.
