Sir, - Lorraine Brennan (November 7th), is certainly correct about her inference that cyclists disregard red traffic lights. I cycle through the city every day and the majority of cyclists ignore red lights, particularly at pedestrian crossings. But then again they are hardly alone, are they?
The vast majority of pedestrians cross roads wherever and whenever they like regardless of oncoming traffic, red lights or anything else. Red traffic lights serve little purpose other than to let motorists know when to accelerate and pedestrians when to run. - Yours, etc.,
