The grapes that refuse to rot

Madam, - On April 13th I bought a plastic container of grapes. The expiry date was April 14th, the next day. The label says they are from India.

On June 13th, two months after purchase, I took them out of the fridge. They were perfect and firm, with no sign of any decay or wilting.

As an experiment, I put them in the boot of the car to see what would happen. Ten days later they have wilted a little but they are still firm and look edible. I have seen worse on sale in shops.

Did I really buy grapes, or are they some space-age look-alike? To what preservative process were they subjected? Perhaps a food scientist or doctor might have a view. - Yours, etc,
