A chara, - Dennis Kennedy's account of the history of Nelson's Pillar (Opinion, Nov 8th) makes for interesting reading but is noteworthy for an important omission. While he is happy to refer to the demolition of the pillar as "monumental vandalism" and also refers to the damage done by "those brainless dynamiters of 1966", he neglects to inform us that the pillar was blown up on March 8th, 1966 - the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising.
