A chara, – In suggesting that theology be studied in place of religion being taught, Ciaran McNamara (Letters, August 4th) ignores the fact that all gods exist only for the credulous and have no more credence than the fairytales referred to by Ivor Shorts (Letters, August 3rd) when he asks why we continue to allow the teaching of religion, in State-funded schools. A better option might be philosophy.
