Madam, - Next week, Junior Cert students will receive their results. My friends and I were all looking forward to our night out to celebrate, but now we have heard that the disco to be held in Old Wesley for us has been cancelled due to the new legislation whereby under-age children are not allowed in licensed premises after 9 p.m.
Although Old Wesley is licensed, the event would be strictly non-alcoholic and well supervised.
I have no doubt that students will end up on street corners instead as we have been left with no place to go to celebrate. Is this what the new legislation intended? - Yours, etc.,
