A chara, - It is with some disquiet that I learn of the €2.6 billion that the SSIA scheme is to cost taxpayers. Does this scheme not further widen the gap between the haves and have-nots?
By my simple reckoning a couple who can afford to invest the maximum get paid €1,700 euro a year between them, totalling almost €9,000 euro over five years, simply because they can afford to invest.
