South Dublin Council land

Sir, – Your correspondent (Letters, September 23rd), erroneously states “South Dublin County Council gave away, for free, 16 hectares of land to a consortium of developers”.

The council has approved the disposal of approximately seven hectares at Killinarden to the Arden team for €14 million for the development of 372 affordable purchase homes and 123 developer homes. These will be delivered in conjunction with 125 social homes, community facilities, creche and new parkland across a wider development site of 16 hectares.

The title to the land will only transfer to Arden when, subject to planning permission, the affordable purchase and developer homes are complete and ready for sale. – Yours, etc,

COLM WARD,
