Sir, – It seems that across the water, the UK government is finally waking up to the dangers of gambling and its social costs. I am not hearing any of the same discussions here. I know the gambling lobby is strong and the tax euros are very attractive but I believe that Government has a responsibilty to address this issue urgently. Every other advertisement on my sports channels makes gambling seem attractive and exciting. That is a matter of opinion, but gambling is also addictive and socially destructive and reaching epidemic proportions. – Yours, etc,
