Sir, – My daughter celebrated her 17th birthday on Sunday with a group of friends who went for pizza to a local restaurant. When they sat down, one of the young men requested that they give him their mobile phones for the duration of the meal.
After some grumbling, they all handed them over, and by later accounts had a great time with no distractions.
It is said that every generation figures things out themselves; hopefully this is a sign that they are smarter than their smartphones! – Yours, etc,
