Sir, - Recent comments by the IDA chief executive and other worried bodies would seem to indicate that there is a shortage of skilled personnel in Ireland. As an unemployed (for 10 months) chemistry research Ph.D., I have approximately 150 letters from various companies around Ireland stating for example: "Unfortunately there are no vacancies in our company at the present time relative to your particular skills."analytical/ research chemists!
There are plenty of highly qualified and skilled people in Ireland, more than enough to fill all the jobs advertised by industries and agencies on their behalf. However, it seems the "Catch 22" situation, "no experience, no job", is still alive and well. This is presenting me with only one option: emigrate. - Yours, etc
