Sisters of Charity must speak up

Sir, – Having listened to the Joint Committee on Health meetings in the Oireachtas to discuss details on the proposed new National Maternity Hospital, it is notable that there is a stakeholder who, despite having been referred to in all the meetings, has managed to never appear at any of the meetings.

The Sisters of Charity are everywhere and nowhere.

Their absence in these meetings creates a missing link, which seems to facilitate the avoidance of direct questioning of issues at the heart of the transfer of their shareholding to the St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVHG).
