Signs of the times

Sir, – Nightly I watch television footage on RTÉ and BBC on the effects of Brexit on Ireland and Northern Ireland. Road signage on the Republic side is constantly filmed in a filthy condition, the sign for “Louth” being a particularly egregious offender.

Would Simon Coveney instruct all Border county managers to dispatch a man (or woman) with a bucket of water and a drop of Fairy liquid to give the signs a quick lick of a mop?

Then the signs would have parity of esteem with their Northern counterparts. – Yours, etc,
