Madam, – I understand Angelina Bojkova’s frustration (April 2nd) about being asked to remain for 20 minutes in Croke Park after the game, but her ire is entirely misplaced. Segregation at professional games is as much a part of the rules of football as the offside law. The Irish fans will be segregated in Sofia, as are fans in the Bulgarian A league and the League of Ireland. To postulate from that enforcement of a Fifa rule that she is considered a hooligan or an “enemy” of Ireland is somewhat absurd.
I would politely suggest that if Ms Bojkova was a regular at any sort of football matches, she would be fully aware of the segregation requirement. – Yours etc.
