Madam, - Last week I was robbed while making a phone call at the General Post Office in O'Connell Street. I was pushed against the phone and wall from behind, and my purse was wrested from my hand. I have been given to understand that this is a regular occurrence, often affecting pensioners.
The GPO is a centre of historic pride in Irish liberty. It would be a tragedy if it should become a safe haunt for those targeting the vulnerable and financially struggling in Irish society. Can some solid steps not be taken to cure this problem? - Yours, etc.,
