Sir, - Fintan O'Toole (December 6th) states that "not one TP had sufficient respect for the citizens who elected them to believe they had the right to know the name of the senior FF figure believed to be mentioned in the Price Waterhouse Report as the recipient of £1.1 million from Dunnes Stores".
Might I suggest that our TDs acted very wisely, on two counts. Firstly, the citizen has no right to know the name of any individual "believed to be mentioned" in any report without some degree of evidence - not just rumour on the streets of Dublin. Secondly, our TDs have a duty to protect the privilege of Parliament. Naming the "Fianna Fail figure" last week would have undermined that privilege. - Yours, etc.,
