Sir, – Despite pronouncements and stick-waving by politicians, houses built on flood plains are uninsurable commercially. Insurance provides protection against an event that might happen, not one that will happen.
State-assisted catastrophe insurance could be put in place were there a political will to do so, but clearly politicians are out of their depth when it comes to discussing flood insurance. – Yours, etc,
