Sir, – The bizarrely humorous answers of Quicksilver contestants are things of legend but your letter writer's memory of Norman Metcalfe's unenviable role in providing musical clues failed to mention that it had its own moments of comic genius.
In response to the question “What game does Bobby Fischer play?”, Norman set off on a musical journey that failed to elicit an answer from the contestant. Bunny politely explained to the bewildered man and audience that Norman had been playing “Chess, we have no bananas, we have no bananas today”. Bananas indeed! – Yours, etc,
