On Monday we had the great socialist himself - Mr Joe Higgins TD - at the gates of the Shell site effectively advocating that workers should be thrown out of their jobs because a small minority of people were opposed to the project.

Unbelievable! (Perhaps Shell should have employed Gama Construction?)

On Friday, a protester needing transport to hospital refused to get into a Red Cross ambulance and in the process cast a slur on a humanitarian organisation of worldwide and impeccable repute. Bizarre!

Earlier last week another TD, Mr Jerry Cowley, suggested that the cost of policing a group that refuses to obey the law should be paid by those who are the object of their protest and whose actions are entirely legal. Unprecedented!

And we continue to hear that intimidation of local people and businesses that support Shell has not ceased. Truly grotesque!

It is clear that this GUBU behaviour by the protesters has lost them any credibility. Noel Dempsey, Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, was correct in what he said on Monday on RTÉ radio news. - Yours, etc,
