Sir, Having now read your "World Review" supplement in detail, I must say it was marred, in a rather silly way, by the inclusion of an article by Harold Punter. In his usual fashion, Pinter attacks US foreign policy as, "to one degree or another", responsible for every evil in the world. In itself, the article is without intellectual merit - simply the standard radical chic hankering after the good old days of Marxist dictatorships which really knew how to fete gullible Western "intellectuals".

The real question is why The Irish Times included this article.

Your own reporting on American foreign policy has remarkably matured in recent years (as evidenced by a number of other articles in the supplement). So why include these ramblings by someone who, no matter how high his standing as a playwright, has no credentials in international affairs? - Yours, etc.,
