Sir, - Kevin Myers's observations regarding the "no overtaking" anomaly at Monastereven (July 21st) prompts me to write. As a Northern motorist who drives regularly in the Republic, I have been unable to get a satisfactory answer to the following query: "If a continuous unbroken white line means you cannot overtake, what does two continuous unbroken white lines mean"? Is it a case of "to be shure, to be shure"? - Yours, etc.,
