Sir, - I recently had experience of travelling by DART during the rush hour period, where I was surrounded by people of various ages and makes - quite a number of them were wearing personal stereo headsets. Whilst their skulls were absorbing the lower frequencies, the higher ones were floating around to be absorbed by unfortunate people like myself not wearing mufflers. The cacophony ranged from techno to Sean O'Riada, creating unbelievable noise pollution.
Is there any chance that like nonsmoking areas, Walkmanfree zones can be created in carriages and other confined spaces where people are forced to congregate. Will CIE be the first to lead the way? Yours, etc.
