Sir, - May I suggest to the new Minister for Communications that the receiving licence section of the broadcasting regulations be amended to include personal computers and cellular telephones. These increasingly popular communication devices are as revolutionary as the automobile was almost 100 years ago.
It is imperative that the State recognise its responsibility in curtailing the improper use of communications channels by the user to obtain a licence and adhere to the regulations as set forth in the Broadcasting Regulations. In addition, licence fees so acquired could be used to develop the technology to curtail the illegal use of these instruments. - Yours, etc.,
