Madam, - As a minuscule shareholder in Diageo, and a man who likes the odd glass of good (Languedoc) wine or an occasional pint, I have a suggestion about how the company might maintain its fine record of corporate social responsibility.
Wouldn't it be splendid if it built and staffed, on a tiny piece of its extensive Dublin city property, a state-of-the-art accident and emergency unit and provided the requisite ambulance service? This centre could be devoted principally to the care of the excessively inebriated customers of the company who impose such a heavy strain on the A&E services of our public hospitals.
