Sir, – The Leaving Cert may be a memorably challenging experience, but tackling arduous examinations in six to eight subjects on leaving school is hardly “a uniquely Irish experience” (Editorial, “Once more unto the breach”, June 4th).
The Austrian Matura, German Abitur, Italian Maturità, Scottish Highers and French Baccalauréat cause similar perturbations across Europe. – Yours, etc,
