Sir, — In these dark days, one must take succour in any token. That Chanel is limiting its price increases to between 5 and 8 per cent – to add to the 20 per cent increase in the past 18 months – is greatly to be welcomed ("Chanel rolls out another round of price increases", Business, March 5th).
It is some relief to know that I can now purchase a classic Chanel quilted calfskin flap bag (with a gold-tone metal chain) for a mere £6,930. It seems churlish to quote the bargain in euros. I trust the queues will be orderly and well marshalled. – Yours, etc,
