Sir, – Are the people of Ireland going to be gaslighted by the HSE?
The words "rapid" and "radical" do not belong in the same sentence as "HSE" (Paul Reid, "Covid-19 pandemic shows HSE capable of rapid and radical change", Opinion & Analysis, March 3rd).
If it did, we would not have to endure one of the longest and strictest of lockdowns, as we would have a health service that could cope and one that we have certainly paid for.
The people of Ireland will judge the HSE in the coming months on how it manages the vaccine rollout.

Perhaps it would be best for The Irish Times to wait until after the vaccine rollout is completed before you offer the HSE chief executive another platform for his opinions. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – While it would have been churlish to comment on Paul Reid’s sartorial preferences during the worst of the pandemic, can I now register my disquiet at his appearing in too many press briefings on TV, as chief executive of the HSE, without a tie? In the picture accompanying his opinion piece on Wednesday, you have omitted his front collar altogether, so we cannot see whether The Irish Times is pro-tie or not. – Yours, etc,
