Sir, – I note with interest the Taoiseach’s Christmas message regarding the return of Irish immigrants, having myself just returned to Ireland after eight years in London.
The Taoiseach should note that many of us are returning with wives and husbands from different parts of the world. It would be great if they received as warm a welcome as the Taoiseach is affording the returning Irish.
Unfortunately this has not been the case for me and my wife, now in her 10th week awaiting a residence visa so that she can begin working.
I propose that we put alongside the “Céad míle fáilte” sign at Dublin Airport another sign – “Welcome may take 12 to 14 weeks to be delivered”. – Yours, etc,
