Sir, - Thank goodness for Kevin Myers. Just when the Green Party is on the rise and the country is about to be taken over by tree huggers he blows in like a breath of fresh air. His piece on Friday about junketeering pseudo environmentalists preaching to us all about global warming while they feast on oysters and foie gras at the tax payers' expense really hit the nail on the head.
Given that the Irish summer is now an endangered species, it's obvious to anyone who knows anything that global warming is no more than an anti-globalisation conspiracy designed to impoverish the international oil industry.
As for the hole in the ozone layer that was solved at another famous junket in Montreal, I say give us back our aerosols and our CFCs.
And what about the International Whaling Commission? Who are we to preach to the Japanese about curbing their taste for whale meat? It's time Greenpeace and the rest of the international environment industry woke up and smelled the genetically modified roses. The world would be a lot safer if we just let Exxon, Monsanto, BNFL and the rest just get on with creating jobs and solving the world food shortage. They are the real heroes. - Yours etc,
