Sir, – Gulls are not the problem. As you rightly point out in your editorial of August 13th, the problem is poor waste management.
Rubbish should be put out in fox, cat and gull-proof containers such as wheelie bins.
Humans are responsible for most of the litter on our streets; the gulls’ contribution is minuscule. Why do we feel we have the right to kill any creature that even slightly inconveniences us?
Littering, however undesirable, is not a capital offence for humans. Why should it be for gulls? – Yours, etc,
