Sir, – If a garda and a sergeant were being targeted by Garda management, you would think that their representative organisations, the GRA and AGSI, would be straight out of the blocks to defend their members and demand an investigation into the allegations. But strangely, we are being deafened by their silence.
Only a few months ago both organisations were in the news daily, demanding pay increases for their members or threatening an illegal strike. In the past both organisations have had choice comments to make about the GSOC, but strangely have no comments to make about the treatment of whistleblowers by fellow gardaí. – Yours, etc,
JASON FITZHARRIS,

Sir, – We are wasting our time with expensive tribunals unless a cogent answer to the question of how it was that two Garda whistleblowers, unknown to each other, happened to have a Tusla file opened on them. – Yours, etc,
STEPHEN MacDONAGH,
Malahide, Co Dublin.
Sir, – So, we will now have an international policing expert examining An Garda Síochána ("Garda audit to be led by independent appointee", February 16th). Does that mean GSOC, the Policing Authority and the Garda Inspectorate are to be disbanded, as they are clearly no longer considered fit for purpose? – Yours, etc,
BLATHNAID NÍ UAIN,
Bray,
Co Wicklow.
