Sir , – I enjoyed Brian O'Connor's recent article regarding gambling and sport ("Increased regulation of ubiquitous gambling industry long overdue", Tipping Point, April 16th). I was surprised that he did not mention the GAA's recent decision to impose an outright ban on sponsorship of competitions, teams, players' gear or facilities by gambling companies, as passed by a 93 per cent voting majority at the last annual congress. It may not quite be "Calvinist condemnation", but it is certainly an exemplary world-leading step in the right direction. – Yours, etc,
JAMES CONROY,
Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
