Funding for fee-paying schools

Sir, – In her first paragraph, Jacky Jones (Health + Family, March 19th) mentions that all children resident in the State are entitled to free teaching. Everything she said after this was superfluous because she is right, they are; and by taking funding for this from the fee-paying schools, she would deny these children that right.

If she were to make this statement with reference to the withdrawal of educational funding for children from the Travelling community she would rightly be accused of discrimination. – Yours, etc,
