Sir, - I heave watched Fianna Fail for many years. I even got to meet Mr de Valera on the top deck of the mailboat in 1938, when he was going to London for the Treaty Ports discussion. Since then, I have noted the growing affrontery of FF. The debate in the Dail of the Government's legislation on tackling crime is a case in point.
Fianna Fail has been longer in office than any one party. It has had two periods of 16 years nonstop rule. So what did a dozen or so FF Ministers of Justice do in the fight against crime?
Little, is. the answer. For FF, crime was invented in December 1994.
No one is fooled by the blustering speeches from the FF Front Bench. Face to face with the spirited speech from Nora Owen, Minister for Justice, and the dignified speech by the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, FF stands exposed for the paucity of its case. Blatant opportunism is the FF approach to problems. - Yours, etc.,
Kincora Grove,
