Sir, - At the funeral of the late Fr Fortune, Bishop Comiskey referred to the fact that God was "rich in mercy."
As a newspaper which actively promotes the liberal agenda, you facilitated a merciless attack on a person recently dead by his own hand, and before he was even buried. You had a front-page article, and two entire pages inside devoted to the subject.
Whatever the truth of the allegations might be, I consider that taking an opportunistic view of the situation was both malicious and vindictive to the point that your newspaper and its standards are beneath contempt for the lowest form of tabloid sensationalism to print what you did, when you did.
Are you so far removed yourselves from any principled action that you cannot temper your comments with mercy for the sake of the man's family? - Yours, etc., Chris Kimmerling,
Taranaghmore, Foxford, Co Mayo.
