Sir, – With a view to buying an electric car in 2019, I’ve been observing the charging points in the vicinity of where I live. Frequently there are petrol or diesel cars parked in the charging points, and when there is an electric car parked there, it is left there all day, when usually an hour’s charging would be sufficient. I have never seen a parking ticket on any of the improperly parked cars.
News that the ESB will charge for the electricity from mid-2019 is the final straw ("Electric vehicle drivers to pay for charging", News, October 25th). I won't be buying an electric car anytime soon. – Yours, etc,
