A chara, – Allan Sweeney (February 3rd) suggests that Enda Kenny's failure to show up at the White House on St. Patrick's Day might "very well contribute to creating a siege mentality in the collective psyche of the circa 50 million US citizens that voted for Mr Trump and potentially justify the policies enacted by him and his administration".
I would suggest that the 62,979,636 people who voted for Mr Trump couldn’t care less whether or not Enda Kenny visits. I would also suggest that the 65,844,610 people who voted for Hillary Clinton would prefer if our Taoiseach stayed at home! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Perhaps those who doubt the Taoiseach’s resolution about delivering a message of disapproval to Donald Trump have underestimated his innate ingenuity. If a form of words or the necessary resolution is missing, Mr Kenny can always fall back on regaling the US president with whimsical anecdotes about people he had randomly met since arriving in Washington and the various viewpoints they asked him to convey to Mr Trump. – Yours, etc,
