Doing one’s bit in time of crisis

Sir, – Last Thursday I received a letter from the Bank of Ireland advising me formally that I had earned €0.10 gross interest on my demand deposit account for the year ended 2012; and that €0.03 tax had been deducted in this regard.

I am very pleased to have been able to contribute in my small way to alleviating the financial woes besetting the country. – Yours, etc,
