Madam, - I disagree with Paula Smith's comments (March 3rd) about recent reporting on the Brian Murphy case. This trial has shocked us all and the extensive coverage last weekend was entirely appropriate.
The trial highlighted failings in our society and I commend the press for its analysis of the affair.
The press did not seek to persecute anyone, as Paula Smith suggested. We have the right to understand exactly why such events are happening in Ireland. - Is mise,
