Madam, – It seems to me (and I write as a non-believer) that Bishop Pat Buckley (March 6th) is conflating anything the Pope may decide to do with the question of infallibility. I seem to remember being told that infallibility operated only under certain strict conditions and these conditions do not appear to have been operative in any of Bishop Buckley’s examples.
