Sir, – I enjoyed Conor Pope's excellent article "Twenty things our kids don't recognise or even know existed" (August 2nd) and I have a 21st item for him to add – bridging finance. Decades ago, bridging finance was available to most bank customers when moving house – but no longer.
Particularly for downsizers, bridging finance would enhance social mobility in our pressurised housing market and it would facilitate the release of more, bigger houses onto a market that is experiencing a supply shortage. – Yours, etc,
